Valetta11 One of the many limestone quarries. The back wall is the working surface from which blocks of limestone are cut. Recently cut blocks are lined up on the floor of the quarry. The cutting is done by the two machines that are under the canvas covers. One machine cuts horizontal grooves in the work face, and the other cuts vertical grooves. The resulting rectangles are chipped off the face and after a small amount of work to smooth edges and remove saw blade marks the blocks are ready for use. Index page Previous page Next page
