One of the many
limestone quarries. The back wall is the working surface from which
blocks of limestone are cut. Recently cut blocks are lined up on the
floor of the quarry. The cutting is done by the two machines that are
under the canvas covers. One machine cuts horizontal grooves in the work
face, and the other cuts vertical grooves. The resulting rectangles are
chipped off the face and after a small amount of work to smooth edges
and remove saw blade marks the blocks are ready for use. |
