The Getty Museum of Art (website here) is a spectacular set of buildings constructed in the Santa Monica mountain foothills overlooking the Los Angeles basin.  There are 2 striking things about the Getty: the structure itself is probably more impressive than the artwork it holds, and the amount of money supporting the museum is so vast that admission is free. These photos cannot adequately represent the impression the Getty imparts on its visitors, but my hope is they can give you a sense of the site and an appreciation for one of the world's most successful buildings.
