What was supposed to be the front/main entrance to the Ahwahnee Hotel, with Half Dome in the background. The hotel looks like it is built from wood and stone, but the wood is actually concrete because, when it was built in 1926, people were afraid a fire might destroy the hotel.  The main entrance is actually on the opposite side of the hotel; it was changed at the last minute due to a problem with ventilation from the kitchen.
