parrots have unique feet with two toe forward and two back (instead of
three forward and one back like other birds.) A parrot's rear inside toe
is double jointed so it can be used like a thumb which is why parrots
hold their food in their feet. Note that the bird at right is
left-footed, whereas the two others are right-footed. |
