There are two major parts to St. Peters: the very large "square" outside the building, and the Basilica building itself. St. Peters Square is well known, but it is not square. It is ringed on two sides by a huge curved set of columns atop which are statues of various saints and other clerical figures. This is one of the two curved sets of columns.
