One of several sheds use by archeologists to collect items from the city. Almost all of the human and animal casts have been moved to a museum in Naples, but a few remain in Pompeii. The casts were made by pouring cement into the cavities formed by people and animals when they were covered by ash. Because the ash is porous the bodies decayed leaving an empty space.
