Believe it or not, a huge ship like this docks just like a small sailboat. Here people on the dock are tying up the first bow line thrown from the ship. During docking the Noordam moves slowly sideways towards the dock (next photo explains how) until several bow and stern lines are attached. Then large winches on the ship pull the ship next to the dock.
