Sicily is a large island located just off the toe of Italy's boot. "Just off" means at its closest point it is about 2 miles away from the Italian peninsula. This 2 mile distance is called the Straits of Messina and is named after the Sicilian city closest to Italy. I took these photos as our ship passed through the Straits.
