These two eagles are unable to fly. The larger (female) eagle broke one wing in the wild and it healed incorrectly. The smaller (male) eagle was shot and got sick; to save it part of one wing had to be removed. Since the eagles can't fly they can't fish, and if they can't fish they can't eat. So they are kept in captivity and fed the things eagles normally eat.
