Milford Sound is a popular tourist location in New Zealand because it is an excellent example of why this part of the country is called Fiordland. Several of the Kiwis we met (real people, not birds) told us that the best way to see Milford was in the rain. They were correct; luckily for us it rained almost the entire day we were there.
