The top section of Yosemite Falls. The black areas on the rocks surrounding the falls resulted from a now-obsolete practice of building fires at the top of the falls and then pushing the embers off the cliff in the evening.  This was done for the delight of tourists staying at the Ahwahnee Hotel.
