Noordam07 Here there are 2 blue docking lines attached to the metal dock cleat. The red ball on the ground is at the end of the small heaving line used to pull the heavy docking lines from the ship. The Noordam can move sideways because it has 3 powerful bow thrusters at the front end and it's main propulsion comes from two large propellers at the back that are driven by 17.5 MW electric motors. The motors and propellers are mounted in moveable pods that can be turned in any direction. As a result the Noordam is extremely maneuverable; in fact, I would say it was actually very nimble.
