By regulation we all participated in a life boat drill the first day on the ship. The drill required us to don our life vests and proceed to our muster station on the boat deck. When everyone was assembled role was taken and the drill was ended. This photo shows the life boats (5 closer boats) and tenders (3 farther boats) deployed over the side of the ship as a test of the launching cranes.
