This is one of 2 swimming pools built from ticket sale proceeds frmo shows put on by Fort MacArthur personnel during WWII.  Because of it's close proximity to Hollywood there were many show business people stationed at Fort MacArthur and when they put a show together from impromptu skits everyone was amazed at how popular it was.
